Elephants & Islands. Want to experience both elephants and beaches? Here's the perfect trip for you
Come with us on this incredible journey of discovery through south east Asia's most visited country. This trip is the perfect way to find your feet in Thailand whilst not having to worry about the planning, worrying about what you miss, feeling unsure about the language barrier and the 'spicy' food they eat over there! 11 nights will absolutely leave you wanting more - we've got you!
Starting in Bangkok on day one, by day twelve we'll have visited the very best of what Thailand has for you in a whirlwind of colour, tastes, smells, fun, parties and everything in between.
DAY ONE: Today will be the first day of one of the most incredibles of your life! Welcome to Thailand....
Let our team meet you on arrival at Chiang Mai international airport and whisk you off to meet your travel comrades at the tour starting point. Depending on the time you arrive there'll be plenty of time for you to get checked-in and freshen up before those lucky enough to have arrived in time, will meet up at a local restaurant for an informal get-together and chat over a few very cheap drinks
DAY TWO: Let's get this party started and there's no time to say "no"! Once we cleared our breakfast plates, we're off to the elephant project. We'll hit the ground running and get stuck in to the real reason this tour exists - we'll be introduced to the kings of jungle the moment we arrive.
Be prepared to be blown away with the incredible moment you first shake hands, or bump trunks, with one of these magical beasts. It's a feeling that will stay with you forever. Believe us!
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner
DAY THREE: We're not just here to play around with elephants, although there'll be a lot of that, we're also here to improve the lives of the animals their handlers (the mahouts) So we'll get stuck in to some enrichment work; planting and harvesting food, securing the land, building and improving enrichment facilities and heaps more.
Working alongside the mahouts, who are an amazing group of people, we'll be getting involved, getting our hands dirty and creating more than just memories.
Most importantly, there'll be plenty of involvement with the elephants. We'll find time to walk them to the river for a swim, a wash and a scrub. You will never, ever forget your time here and we guarantee it'll light a fire in you to want to change the lives of more elephants around the world.
We'll be accompanied every step of the way by the mahouts and our team of guides and coordinators. Everything that's required is included in the program so all you need to do is bring a desire to succeed in the time that we're here.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
DAY FOUR: After breakfast, we'll have a group send-off and wave a tearful farewell to the elephants and the mahouts, who we can all now call friends. We'll depart the location and head back to Chiang Mai city and back to the hotel we stayed at on arrival.
Once checked-in and finished reminiscing about our time with the elephants, we'll head out for a walk in to the city to explore what makes Chiang Mai one of the most-visited locations in Asia. This place is simply beautiful and it's not difficult to know why when you take a walk round.
We'll end up at the city's world-famous night market this evening for a slap-up meal at one of the areas popular local restaurants.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner
DAY FIVE: So today we say goodbye to the north and jump on a flight to the south. We'll leave the hotel after breakfast, take the quick transfer to the airport and board our morning flight to Surat Thani. From there it's a quick coach trip to. the pier then a very relaxing 90-minute ferry crossing to the island.
Once we've arrived at the new house we'll get settled in before a group chat to discuss the next few days on stunning Koh Samui
DAY SIX: There's no better way to get to know Samui than on a tour of the island. So as this is your first full day this is how we'll start it off. After breakfast we'll head off on an exploration, show you some of the most amazing spots on the island and treat you to a locals lunch. Samui really is one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand and today you'll see it all for yourself.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch
DAY SEVEN: So now we've discovered the island, let's head off out to sea to realx on one of her neighbours. The stunningly relaxed island of Koh Tan is our next destination. Be prepared to get your relaxation in full gear. This place is how most Thai islands were 40+ years ago - no traffic, relaxing beach bars, golden sand beaches and everything you'd expect from a deserted island in the Gulf of Thailand.
*This trip will be subject to the weather, but don't panic, if we're unable to make the crossing we'll have an equally as awesome activity for you.
DAY EIGHT: By now you'll be an islands expert and ready to do your own things. So today is your free day to get out and explore - or just chill on the beach, by a pool, go shopping, visit the bars - whatever you want to do, go do it! Your guide will be around to help you plan and organise anything you need. Just have an amazing day!
But don't venture too far as tonight we'll treat you to a sumptuous seafood BBQ at one of our favourite restaurants. Fill your face while swapping stories of your trip so far.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner
DAY NINE: One of the most incredible places on earth is actually located not far from Koh Samui. It's called Ang Thong Marine Park and it's breathtaking! Picture limestone mountains climbing directly out of the crystal clear water, untouched golden beaches, teeming marine life and scenery that will rock your world! That's where we're heading today. For those of you who want to experience the sealife close-up, you'll have the chance to snorkel at seveal locations. Those who prefer to keep dry can chill on the boat and top up that tan.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch
DAY TEN: Today it's time to jump on the boat that will whisk us over to island number two: Koh Tao. Small but mighty, stunning and laid-back to the extreme.
Once we reach the island it's a very quick transfer to the hotel to get checked-in and sorted out. We'll then all meet up by the pool for a chat about the next few days and then you'll have some free time to take a dip, explore, enjoy some cocktails, skip along the beach, or whatever it is that floats your boat!
DAY ELEVEN: We're not only about saving the elephants. All animals make us go weak at the knees and that's just as true about marine life. So today, for those who want too join us we'll head off to our supported marine conservation project on the island.
This is a fabulous initiative set up to protect and restore the local marine life. These guys rock and they're ready and waiting to inform us about how they track, recognise and protect the marine life and ecosystems of the sea to ensure the longevity of the island's vast number of marine species. You will either be getting close to our turtle friends in the conservation centre depending on the breeding season or thereafter you'll slip into your flippers, snorkel-up and go for a swim for a game of spot-the-turtle.
Meals included: Breakfast
DAY TWELVE: Sadly, today will be our last day on Koh Tao so make it your best! You've an entire day to do as you please - top up your tan, take a boat trip around the island, cricket on the beach, whatever you want to do, we'll help you to make it happen.
No last night would be the same without a big group send-off, however, so tonight it's a group dinner at a popular local restaurant. Get your glad rags on, grab a cocktail or two and let's party until dawn!
Meals: Breakfast, dinner
DAY THIRTEEN: After breakfast we'll be heading back to the pier for our transfer back to Bangkok. From the ferry we'll climb aboard a very comfortable, air-conditioned coach for the drive north so you'll have plenty of time to recover from the night before!
The fun doesn't have to stop today, however. If you want more of the island life, check out our optional bolt-on below....
We will arrive in Bangkok in the early evening so once we're checked-in and ready we'll hit the town for our last night together. Some say that you've not experienced Thailand if you've never visited the Khao San Road after dark, so that's exactly where we're heading tonight.
DAY FOURTEEN: If you aren't able to join the bolt-on, then sadly, today it's all over. Get your tissues ready as we all say a tearful farewell with a group hug and hi-5's! Our team will be available to you to help with any onward travel plans, to make sure you have everything and to help you wipe away those tears.
If you don't think you can face these goodbye's, read on.....
(this is purely optional but equally as epic!)
DAY THIRTEEN (cont'd.): We'll all travel to the pier together this morning, but you lucky traveller, won't be heading back to Bangkok just yet. Your guide will put you on the ferry to your next port of call, the magical party island of Koh Phangan.
On arrival on the island it's a quick transfer to your new accommodation, located right on the beach! This place is beautiful and is the perfect place to relax after your breathtaking tour of Thailand. Imagine a massage on the beach, sipping cocktails at sunset, getting your party on in some of Thailand's leading beach bars. Koh Phangan has it all..... and more!
DAY FOURTEEN to SEVENTEEN: You are here to rest, recharge, get your tan topped up and enjoy the islands stunning relaxation (or epic parties). This extension to your tour is the perfect way to do this.
On day 15 we've included a day boat trip for you. Some of the most incredible snorkel sites in Thailand exist here but if you're all snorkelled-out, you can simply relax on the boat and enjoy the views.
Meals: breakfast each day
DAY EIGHTEEN: By now you'll be fully recharged and ready to head back to Bangkok. We've arranged your transport back to the City of Angels, all you need to do is be ready on time on time!
You'll arrive back in Bangkok early evening so there's time to get checked back in to the hotel and if you have the urge and have the energy maybe one or two more ice cold drinks surrounded by the craziness of a late night at the world famous Khao San Road.
DAY NINETEEN: Unbelievably, it's all over.... but those memories of what we guarantee to be an epic, life-changing journey will stay with you forever!
NOTE: this extension is unguided. You will be given exact details of your arrangements plus all booking confirmations along with 24/7 contact numbers for our team who you can contact with any questions you have during your trip.
